In Durrës and Rrjoll, residents have requested the lawsuit to be secured, i.e. the cessation of works, for the "TID Durrës" and "Blue Borgo" projects, which are planned for development in these areas.
On Thursday at 3:00 PM, a hearing is expected to be held at the Administrative Court, where residents of the Kala area in Durres have requested for the fourth time the termination of the TID Durres project, while the hearing for the resort in Rrjoll is expected to be held at the same court, on Friday at 10:00 AM.
“Rrjolli and Durrës, Justice”
"Rrjoll, Durrës, Zvërnec, Nartë, Sazan, Pogardec, Zall - Gjocaj, Shushicë, Kombinat" - were some of the areas that citizens had listed on banners, where various public and private projects are taking their properties and natural resources in the name of strategic investors or "public interest", which ultimately serves the private sector.
Edmond Çata, a citizen engaged in the Group for the Combine, an organization of citizens affected by expropriations after the earthquake, said that this government has long been arrogant with property rights.
"This is the example you are giving today, that when rights are violated, you don't beat people in a cafe, but you go out and tell the government to stop," said Chata during his speech.
He recalled that from the court cases undertaken by the residents of the Combine, against the Municipality of Tirana, with legal representation from the center Res Publica 18 out of 22 cases were won by proving false expert reports on the level of damage to buildings.
While the residents of Kombinat managed to stop the demolitions in court, in Durrës residents have been warned in recent days that they will have ten days to vacate their homes, from February 16 to 26.
"We have houses in the center of Durrës, where a square meter there, on the first line, is three thousand euros per square meter. Do you know how much they calculated for my house in the center? With 170 thousand old lek per square meter" - said Rita Kazazi, a resident of the Kala neighborhood in Durrës.
protests of Durrës residents against the TID Durrës project have started since September 2025They oppose the project, which in the first phase affects about 70 families and in a later phase, is expected to affect about 100 more families.
Citizen has continuously reported on the protests of this community in front of the Durrës Municipality and the offices of Albanian-American Development Foundation (AADF)), which is developing the project.
Same and The inhabitants of Rrjoll are demanding the cessation of the works that have already begun for the “Blue Borgo” project, which will be built by the “Gener2” company. For days, they have been involved in violent clashes with the police, as they have attempted to stop the excavations and machinery works and have been forcibly escorted to the police station.
New parties in support of communities
The protest was also supported by representatives of new political forces. Dorina Prethi from "Albania Becomes" recalled the fact that this party has been protesting for 68 days in front of the Prime Minister's Office, 24 hours a day.
"This is all that we are trying to show before the prime minister, that we are not there for our own problem. We are there for Albania!" - said Prethi during her speech.
The chairman of the "Mundësia" party said that despite the disappointment that Albanians have had over the years regarding the property issue, they should not give up.
"Who is building the south today? Who is building the resorts? Where are the owners of those lands? They are all abroad," Agron Shehaj emphasized.
Redi Muçi, from the "Together Movement" party, concluded that Albania is increasingly resembling the countries of Arabia or Qatar, where it is built only for oligarchs and citizens are mostly used as slaves of the system.
